The ATOD Coalition of Lawrence County recently sent coalition staff and coalition members including four youth to the CADCA Mid-Year Conference in Phoenix, AZ. We took part in the National Youth Leadership Initiative that CADCA (Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America) offers each year to youth who are involved in community coalitions. During this time we learned the basics of the Strategic Prevention Frameworks, which is the frameworks our grant follows. Also we learned how to get more youth involved in community coalitions and the importance of youth lead activities. The students were involved in a group activity called a teach back. They were assigned a certain part of the frameworks and had to present what they had learned in a unique way at the end of the week. This was filmed and will later be available to watch on the CADCA website www.CADCA.org. Those who attended the conference were: Alison Oglesby, Project Director; Amber Adams, Program Coordinator; Rena Cullum,Sarah Cullum, Michael Cullum, Brooke Midgett, and Lauren Dotson.
